We first met Jake and Erin while photographing Jake’s cousin’s wedding. Jake is part of a big beautiful family here in town, and we have had so much fun photographing so many lovely couples within their family. They are all just so sweet and always welcome us like we are part of the family! They are absolutely the BEST!!
Since Jake & Erin now live out of town, we scheduled their engagement photos for the weekend they would be in town for yet another Judice wedding…the lovely Andrew and Liana. The wedding was supposed to be held on the following day, but we got a call in the middle of their engagement session saying that since a big hurricane was supposed to hit the next day, that the wedding would be held that evening. So we continued our afternoon with Jake and Erin, and then followed them over to the wedding. It was all so beautiful!
But back to their engagement session…we started the afternoon off at one of Lafayette’s best pizza joints, Central Pizza. Erin had mentioned that they were pretty nervous to be in front of the camera, so we started off with a beer and good conversation to ease their nerves. We love treating engagement sessions like a double date. It’s so fun to really sit down and get to know each of our couples. Side note-somehow we always end up with the sweetest couples, we are so lucky! We really enjoyed chatting with these two, and we just let them be themselves the rest of the afternoon. It was a blast, and if you missed the photos you can check them out here!
So, a hurricane almost stopped their engagement session, and then Covid came and tried stop their wedding, but after a little delay and extra planning, Jake and Erin were able to have a beautiful day! They decided to push the reception day to a later date, but still had a gorgeous ceremony, and a day full of lots of LOVE. We were actually able to have a fun first look and take so many amazing photos afterwards. Since we had so much extra time with them, Erin wanted to ride to her grandparents former home for a few photos. Her mom was one of 17 children, so she has lots of cousins, and they all had so many childhood memories at this home. It was such a special thing to do, and the photos from the home are so unique!
After a bunch of good dad jokes to get Jake to laugh, we headed to St. John’s cathedral where they would say “I Do”! As family gathered to witness (with masks and social distancing of course ; ) we could feel an overwhelming sense of love in the room. They have so many wonderful friends and family, it was just perfect!
Jake and Erin, the sweet grins between the two of you say it all! It is such a pleasure to know you guys! We are so happy for you, and we can’t wait to see what your future together will hold! Congrats, we can’t wait to see you at another Judice wedding! : )
